Info Tech Corporation of Goa Limited successfully completed the project for the supplying, installation, and commissioning of video conferencing cubicles at the First and Second Floors of the Chakkar Block in Central Jail Colvale. The project was undertaken to enhance the digital infrastructure of the prison facility and to enable secure, efficient, and court-compliant video conferencing for judicial proceedings and official interactions.
The initiative was conceptualized to address operational challenges related to physical court production of inmates and to align with the judiciary’s emphasis on secure digital hearings. The project involved careful planning, site inspections, and consultations with prison authorities and the Inspectorate General of Prisons to ensure that the infrastructure met functional, security, and capacity requirements.
The scope of work covered interior development, modular cubicle installation, furniture, internal electrification, DG power backup systems, and end-to-end Information and Communication Technology (ICT) infrastructure required for uninterrupted video conferencing operations. The design and execution were carried out in accordance with applicable standards and departmental specifications, ensuring reliability, safety, and ease of operation.
As per approved requirements, the project included the installation of 51 individual video conferencing cubicles, along with one large-capacity cubicle on each floor, designed to accommodate up to 10 inmates at a time. This configuration allows the facility to manage high volumes of hearings efficiently while maintaining privacy and security protocols.
The project progressed through all mandatory stages, including concept approval, administrative sanction, technical sanction, and budgetary approvals from the competent authorities. Execution was carried out following approved schedules of rates and established government procedures. Continuous coordination with stakeholders ensured timely completion and adherence to quality benchmarks.
Upon completion, the facility was fully commissioned and handed over for operational use. The project has significantly strengthened the technological capabilities of Central Jail, Colvale, enabling secure remote court hearings, reduced logistical burden, improved safety, and faster judicial processes. It stands as a key contribution toward the modernization and digital transformation of correctional infrastructure in Goa.
