IT Knowledge Center

The Department of Information Technology Electronics and Communications (DITE&C) of the Government of Goa has set up IT Knowledge Centers (ITKCs) in various locations throughout the state. Implemented through M/s Info Tech Corporation of Goa Limited (ITG), these centers offer Information and Communications Technology (ICT) training to citizens. The ITKCs provide a wide range of courses, starting from basic computer training to diploma programs, enabling individuals to acquire essential IT skills.

The ITKCs play a crucial role in promoting digital literacy and bridging the digital divide in Goa. By offering comprehensive ICT education, these centers empower citizens to thrive in the digital era and pursue careers in technology-related fields. The strategically located ITKCs ensure easy accessibility for individuals from different regions of the state. With a curriculum covering diverse topics such as computer fundamentals, software applications, programming languages, and web development, the ITKCs cater to learners of all skill levels, contributing to the overall growth and development of the IT sector in Goa.

Through the ITKCs, the Government of Goa aims to enhance employment opportunities and foster the overall socio-economic development of the state. By equipping citizens with IT skills, the centers contribute to the growth of the IT sector in Goa. Additionally, the diploma programs offered by the ITKCs provide specialized knowledge, enabling students to excel in their chosen IT fields.

Objective:

To Set up IT Knowledge Centers across the State of Goa.
To provide basic computer skills to the local youth, house wives and other citizens
To provide various job oriented IT training courses including training for the BPO operations/call center executives.
To Provide structured training programmes depending on the needs.
To make at least one person in each families in the state an IT literate
Through achieving the above, the state envisions:
To bridge the gap between the 'Information Poor and the Information Rich'
For creation of a society which is ready for capitalizing on Knowledge for economic and social development
IT Knowledge Centers to work as social and economic catalysts for the overall development of the society.
To empower individuals and communities throughout enhanced access to information, education and communication facilities.

Project Details:

Government of Goa has envisaged an objective of "Creation of a large pool of computer literate manpower which will be very helpful for state to make the exercise of introducing e-governance solutions much more meaningful and enabling the citizens for quality job opportunities" in IT Software/IT enabled services including BPO.
As a part of Goa IT Mission, IT Knowledge project will have at least one IT Knowledge Centers at each of the 36 census towns and at four major towns namely Panaji, Margao, Mapusa and Mormugao
The IT Knowledge Project initiative will reap the benefits of IT revolution and will provide ICT access to all sections of the society, bridging the divide between "Information poor" and "Information rich", developing locally relevant content, skill-set up gradation of the common people, and ensuring content, to be generated in local language are the objectives of the project.
All the centers will have quality internet connectivity and will be connected to the Goa Boardband Network (GBBN). The vision is to give computer training to at least one member of every family till the village level.
The centers will also provide job oriented IT training to the local youth.

How to apply:

1. Visit the Portal
    Go to the official ITKC portal: itkc.goa.gov.in

2. Register Yourself
    Create a new account by completing the online registration process.

3. Login and Apply for a Course
    After registration, login to your account and select the desired course you wish to enroll  in.

4. Complete the Payment
    Pay the course fees either:
    1. In full(One-time payment), or
    2. In up to four installments.

5. Attend Training & Examination
    Successfully participate in the training sessions and complete the required assessments.

6. Receive Your Certificate
    After passing the examination, you will be awarded a Digitally Signed Certificate

Evaluation Committee:

Government of Goa has constituted the "Evaluation Committee" on IT Knowledge Center.

Roles & Responsibilities of the Committee:

· Scrutinize the contents of the courses and will see that they are in accordance with the latest industry trends.

· Decide on the curriculum to be adopted for providing training to Government Officials.

· Assess the resonability of fee structure as proposed by Implementation Agency.

· The Committee shall meet every half yearly in order to revise the curriculum if required.

APEX COMMITTEE:

Government of Goa has constituted the "Apex Committee" on IT Knowledge Center.

Roles & Responsibilities of the Committee:

Review the status of the IT Knowledge Center on quarterly basis.

Decide on the fees/curriculum charges to be charged for each course by the Implementing Agency based on the recommendation obtained from the Evaluation Committee on IT Knowledge Center.

Any other administrative issues from time to time.
